I have seen so many videos of peoples journeys doing so and I have to admit, I am a little nervous to know! I cannot explain why! I guess because my features are not super typical it makes me curious to know where these traits come from!

In the past DNA kits have let people down with vague details of ones heritage however I noticed that all of the social media experiments, searching for the family roots are using Ancestry, so I watched their journey and I had to be a part of it too!

Today, it is the “norm” for teens to wear false lashes every single day because their lashes aren’t “long enough”. Today, women are switching their prescription contact lenses for colours that are not their own. Lips grossly outlined to ridiculous levels. This is becoming an every day routine.

Not only do women wear Spanx or other body shaping underwear to keep the bumpy bits in place but are wearing masks that do not even look like them anymore.

How can we cultivate this kind of culture which leaves women at the end of the day and every single day, walking into the bathroom in their only personal time, undressing and releasing the jiggly bits and removing their mask, looking back at a total stranger.

What is this teaching women? Not only is it forced down their throats that they’re “not good enough” because they are not a waif but now their face is not “good enough” as is because it does not fit today’s twisted typical beauty standards.

This make up culture of totally changing the face as if it “should be that way” makes me sad. Anyone who knows me is well aware of how much I love make up however I personally it is important to keep our identities. I want everyone to be happy with who they see in the mirror when that make up comes off.. not have to totally deconstruct ones self.

Being plastic looking unfortunately is a trend that is running rife as ever and one I will not subscribe to.
