Jojoba- All that it’s cracked up to be?
I was wandering around my local healthfood store and as always the “beauty stand” always calls to me with its always aesthetic pleasing packaging.
Wizards of packaging! How are they so amazing at this? I feel less guilty when using such products I feel like I am doing my skin a favour even by smelling the “natural” products before even applying them to my face.
I have to say, The Jojoba company have an impeccable team when it comes to packaging.
As you can imagine, this bright yellow delightful oil packaged in a frosted glass pump was beckoning me. Not only am I a sucker for Natural products but beautiful packaging because all of my make up and skincare are clearly on display. This was a showpiece alright.
I see different sizes there but to be safe, I choose the 30ml Jojoba -(pronounced “hohoba” ) It is a modest $19.95. SOLD! I sit down and have lunch and eye my new prize. Yes, I kept touching the frosted glass like any texture lover does, excited to try this natural skin elixir.
My skin was in the process of peeling from microdermabrasion so it needed moisturising and protection. I was using a natural vitamin E moisturiser, however once I read the properties and uses of this magic yellow oil, I decided to use that.

Youthful skin produces wax esters that are responsible for the deep cleansing and moisturising of skin, hair and nails. Up to 30% of healthy young skin sebum is made up of wax esters. Jojoba is the only plant known to produce wax esters instead of plant oil. Its molecular structure is similar to the wax esters in youthful skin sebum. After a day of use, the redness of my microdermabrasion subsided and had healed much quicker than the typical moisturisers or lotions I have used. The skin on my hand which has a small area suffering from Dermatitis was healed just about overnight and was finally NOT itchy. Even steroid creams did not alleviate this problem, props to The Jojoba company for this item!
I found Jojoba not that kind of oil that feels terrible on either. I found it easy to wear and even applied my full face of make up over it. I highly recommend it to anyone who has sensitive skin, for those who have had microdermabrasion and are recovering. I found this to also be exceptional for my hands without that greasy oily feeling. I wore it to bed and woke up with a beautifully soft face and then I remembered why
